Cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse is on a streak of real bad luck. First, her co-worker gets murdered and no one seems to care. Then Sookie is attacked - and poisoned - late one night by some weird and apparently mythical beast. She only survives because the local vampires roll up and graciously suck the poison from her veins (like they didn't enjoy it). But in return the blood-suckers need a favor.
Which is why Sookie ends up in Dallas, using her telepathic skills to search for a missing vampire, on the condition that her undead friends don't do anything, well, vampiric while she's there. Easier said than done. All it takes is one delicious blonde and one small mistake for things to turn deadly...
My Review: {This book is for adult readers} --Sookie Book #2: Sookie Stackhouse is at it again. You have to wonder if Sookie would find herself in so much trouble if she'd have just not became friends with the Vampires. And, poor Sookie is accused of being a psychic rather than a telepath more times than I'm sure she cares to remember. Remember, she can read minds, not predict the future. ;)
Bon Temps gets to deal a little more with their resident alcoholic police officer, Andy Bellefleur. His character is one that you're never sure if you should like, hate or just feel sorry for.
In this eventful and fast moving book, there's more death and missing vampires and even a scary beast that causes some serious trouble for Sookie. Of course, Eric and Bill both continue to trip over their feet to do whatever they can for her. She's moved on from her Grandmother's passing, but with as busy as things are for her, she'd have no other choice. You even get to see your favorite telepathic waitress go under cover to try to get some information. In the process, she manages to discover a traitor. Be sure to also set your gears for some fun and somewhat steamy action with Eric in pink.
If you've got book one, you definitely need book two. Another book that you don't want to put down until you've finished it. Grab a sweet tea, a blanket and your book and get lost with Sookie and her continued adventures.
